About
Why have I decided to set up this blog?
About two years ago I went along to an online marketing seminar with a work colleague. A lot of the information being given out was either outdated or just plain wrong and I thought to myself “I can do a better job at this”.
I decided to make a few calls and see if I had what it took to run seminars and workshops to help people find out up-to-date and relevant information about creating, updating and promoting a website.
After my first very nervous night people gave me heaps of great feedback saying it was a very informative and useful workshop. That’s when I realised that I really enjoyed doing this stuff, taking what can be a complex and convoluted process like website development and SEO, and putting it in terms that the average person can understand.
Not only that but I was helping people to create better websites and businesses and inspiring them to learn more about the web. This was a pretty addictive feeling knowing that I was empowering people.
From there it grew. I had an opportunity to talk about organic search engine optimisation at Google Uni, a joint venture between AIMIA and Google. I have to admit, I was extremely nervous getting up there with the Head of Multimedia from QANTM College and the Marketing Manager of Google Australia!
Along the way I have run many successful workshops and seminars for the State Development Centre of QLD and have been asked to guest lecture at QANTM College about SEO. I have presented at different tradeshows, events and conferences along with IT Networks and various Chambers of Commerce.
In early 2007 I was asked to present at B&T Magazines Online & Interactive Boot Camp which has also lead to opportunities to speak at Search School Melbourne and Sydney and other events.
Now I have decided to start this blog so I can share the knowledge I’ve gained from my work on hundreds of websites. Hopefully the information on my blog might help you be successful in your online ventures.
